RRU Librarians are available to assist you with your research enquiries.
In most cases, core faculty are invited by the Library to submit their work to the repository. Core faculty who have published journal articles or book chapters may be able to add their articles to VIURRSpace if their publishing agreement allows for inclusion in institutional repositories. Journals or book publishers typically specify the version of the work that can be self-archived.
The author must either hold copyright in the work or have permission from a rights holder to submit the work to the institutional repository. The RRU Library will assist core faculty with determining copyright permissions, embargo periods (if any), and/or author sharing rights for the work, if applicable. For more information about copyright, please contact the RRU Library.
The core faculty author agrees to a non-exclusive distribution license that allows RRU to reproduce and distribute the work in the repository. Note that agreeing to this license allows the RRU Library to distribute the work but does not involve the transfer of copyright to the RRU Library.
The RRU Library uploads the work to VIURRSpace on the faculty author’s behalf, including all relevant metadata. Note that work is not critically examined or peer-reviewed as part of this submission process. A stable and permanent link is generated for the work in the repository 24-48 hours after submission. For more information about how VIURRSpace can support the dissemination of your research, please contact the RRU Library.
The Library helps showcase the high-quality research RRU students are producing by increasing visibility and access to this scholarly material. The Library assists students with publishing their theses and dissertations through ProQuest, Library and Archives Canada, and VIURRSpace. After the student has finished the thesis or dissertation course, the staff who process theses and dissertations will send an email invitation to publish. This email will provide information and links needed to upload the work. For more information, see the Copyright Office’s guide on Copyright Information for Thesis and Dissertation Publication
