Procedures for creating stable links to licensed resources to share with other members of the RRU community.

Does the URL in the address bar contain the segment .eu1.proxy.openathens.net?

  • Yes — follow Instructions 1
  • No — follow Instructions 2

Instructions 1

  • Copy the URL from the address bar and paste the link into a text editor (e.g., Notepad). It should look something like this: https://publisher-abc--clio-com.eu1.proxy.openathens.net/9780313380136/
  • Remove the proxy info (.eu1.proxy.openathens.net): https://publisher-abc--clio-com/9780313380136/
  • Modify the hyphens in the first section of the URL. Replace the single hyphens with periods and shorten the double hyphen to just one: publisher-abc--clio-com becomes publisher.abc-clio.com
  • Paste the edited URL into the OpenAthens link generator.

  • Click on the "Share" button below the video then select "Copy direct link."
  • Paste the link into a text editor (e.g., Notepad). It should look something like this: https://streaming-acf--film-com.eu1.proxy.openathens.net/audiocine/watch/24F4A59C1BDFE7FF?referrer=direct
  • Remove the proxy info (.eu1.proxy.openathens.net): https://streaming-acf--film-com/audiocine/watch/24F4A59C1BDFE7FF?referrer=direct
  • Modify the hyphens in the first section of the URL. Replace the single hyphens with periods and shorten the double hyphen to just one: streaming-acf--film-com becomes streaming.acf-film.com

Can-Core Academic Video

  • To link to a single video, use the "Segment URL" link below the video player.
  • To link to a video collection or search results page:
    • Find the "Copy Link" link (usually near the top right of the screen)
    • Add /rru to the resulting URL
    • E.g., https://academic.can-core.ca/core-list?cltn=xFcFPucgNV&type=Videos/rru
