Lean Library

Use the Lean Library Access browser extension to find and access library resources directly through your internet searches.

What is Lean Library?

Lean Library is a browser extension (add-on) that enhances your searching experience, wherever you choose to search.

Key features:

  • Get quick "pop-up" access to materials licensed by RRU Library – including articles, ebooks, and specialty research databases – wherever you happen to find them
  • Automatically search the Library's catalogue and the JSTOR database simultaneously whenever you run a search in Google or Google Scholar
  • Enrich your learning about research methods with contextual keyword definitions in Wikipedia
  • Get point-of-need support from RRU Library on Google, Google Scholar, and many other websites: view relevant tutorial content from the Library, browse our FAQs, or quickly ask us a question.

How it works

Get access

  • Follow the pop-up: When you're on a website that contains material licensed by RRU Library, you'll be notified through a pop-up. Log in with your RRU username and password for access.
  • No subscription available? Lean Library automatically checks for open access versions. If no immediate access is available, it redirects you to our Interlibrary Loan Request Form.

Streamline your searching

  • Three searches at once: Whenever you run a search in Google or Google Scholar, Lean Library will automatically run a search on the same terms in Discovery (RRU Library's search engine) and JSTOR. The results of these parallel searches will display in a panel to the side of your main search results.

Dig deep on research methods

  • Power up Wikipedia: Do you often find yourself pulled to a Wikipedia article when you're looking to learn more about a new concept? Lean Library integrates our Sage Research Methods database with Wikipedia. Get peer-reviewed, comprehensive definitions of key terms right in Wikipedia itself, or click directly through to explore research concepts in more depth within Sage Research Methods itself.

Get help from RRU Library when and where you need it

  • Discover relevant search techniques when they're most helpful: When you land on Google, Google Scholar, or a number of other websites, Lean Library will offer access to a guide by RRU librarians to help you plan your search and/or understand how to use the website you've landed on.
  • Ask us a question right then and there: Lean Library provides quick access to RRU Library FAQs and our contact form wherever you journey on the Internet – no need to navigate back to the Library website whenever you need help!
