Develop a vision (Library & Writing Centre orientation, Stage 1)

Gentle introduction to the Library and Writing Centre that starts with building relationships with visitors

Library

Close up image of peacock feathersFinding the right scholarly and non-scholarly literature to support your research is a fundamental part of your academic journey. RRU Library is here to help!

We own and subscribe to hundreds of thousands of resources – including books, journals, articles, films, industry databases, and more – on behalf of our students. The friendly RRU librarians can help show you where and how to search for literature on any topic, be it a peer-reviewed article on building leadership capacity in Indigenous communities, or industry statistics on Australian recycling programs.

My name is Cassandra Larose. My ancestors were primarily of French descent, and at least three generations of my family have lived as settlers in Canada. I have lived and worked as an uninvited guest across what we now call Canada, growing up on unceded Anishinaabe Algonquin territory and now working on the Lands of the Xwsepsum and Lekwungen ancestors and families. My role as the Scholarly Communication and Learning Support Librarian allows me to help connect students with information as they look to develop their knowledge, and to think about different ways that they might communicate the stories of their research at Royal Roads University.

My name is Amber Gallant. I am of Hungarian and Danish descent, and four generations of my family have lived as settlers on the land now collectively called the United States of America. I've lived and worked as an uninvited guest across North America; I grew up on the ancestral lands of the Payómkawichum and Kumeyaay peoples and now live and work on the land of the Xwsepsum and Lekwungen ancestors and families. I am also the Data Services Librarian at RRU, and I’m looking forward to helping students succeed in their research journeys. Whether you need assistance in managing the data you have created as part of a research project, are curious about how to find industry or consumer information, or are looking for general “where-to-start?” help, I’m here for you!
