Anti-racism resources

A starting point for learning more about and finding resources on anti-racism in Canada.

Learning about anti-racism

This guide is a starting point for supporting reflective teaching and research practices about anti-racism and becoming anti-racist. It is intended to highlight information that has curated lists of books, articles, and websites available through the library and on the open internet. It is not an exhaustive guide; it is a living resource and will continue to change as more information is made available.

We would like to express gratitude to Dr. Athena Madan, School of Humanitarian Studies, for her contribution of resources on anti-racism and Black Lives Matter to this guide.

  • Anti-racism is the practice of identifying, challenging, and changing the values, structures and behaviours that perpetuate systemic racism (Ontario Anti-Racism Secretariat).
  • Anti-racism is the active process of identifying and eliminating racism by changing systems, organizational structures, policies and practices and attitudes, so that power is redistributed and shared equitably (NAC International Perspectives: Women and Global Solidarity).
